We’re almost there. October is just around the corner and, with it, mounting anticipation for the 70th France Football Ballon d’Or ceremony. On 26 October, in London, the names of all the winners will be revealed. And amongst them, of course, will be the two winners of the Ballon d’Or: one man and one woman. But no, not all criteria carry the same weight. When casting their votes, our jurors must take into account the rules laid down by France Football.
Three criteria in order of importance
As a reminder, 100 journalists vote for the Men’s Ballon d’Or (one per country represented in the top 100 of the men’s FIFA rankings) and 50 journalists for the Women’s Ballon d’Or (one per country represented in the top 50 of the women’s FIFA rankings). Our experts draw up their top 10 using the following criteria, the order of importance of which is set out in Article 4 of the award’s rules:

Individual performances, decisiveness and impressive displays.

Team performances and honours.

Class and fair play.
