Launched on 1 October, the public vote to elect the BOAT – the Ballon d’Or of all time – is entering its final stages. You have until midnight on 27 October to choose, from a shortlist of ten players who have won at least two Ballon d’Or awards, the best season for each of them from among those that earned them the trophy.

The BOAT: a source of great passion

This vote has sparked a great deal of passion and emotion amongst fans, but also raised questions and fuelled rumours.

The first thing to do is to re-read the rules of the game, which have been available since its launch on 1 October. They haven’t changed and can be found at the start of the game, before you select a player.

This vote allows football enthusiasts to choose their BOAT.

By taking part, everyone receives a historic photograph of the first Ballon d’Or, awarded in 1956, and enters a prize draw for a chance to win two tickets to the 2027 Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Like any paid game, this initiative is subject to legal regulations. Its rules were established and filed upon launch. The principle is clear: this is a public vote, open from 1 to 27 October, the results of which will be published on Ballondor.com on 28 October, two days after the ceremony.

What is the connection between the BOAT and the Ballon d'Or?

Some of you have asked us about the link between this vote and the Ballon d’Or ceremony. Part of the evening’s programme will be dedicated to the Ballon d’Or of All Time, an initiative that celebrates fans’ passion and the community’s attachment to the legends of the Ballon d’Or.

Because the BOAT is part of this community. It gives voice to its emotions, memories and debates.

Why can’t we see who’s in the lead anymore?

When the vote opened, the percentages of votes received by each player were visible. Cristiano Ronaldo 2008 was well ahead.
To keep the suspense going until the close of voting, we’ve decided to hide the figures in this final stretch. You can still vote until midnight on 27 October.

The BOAT results will be revealed on 28 October

The results will then be unveiled in a fully transparent manner: the top three, the number of votes and the full breakdown of the results will be published on 28 October on ballondor.com
