The evening at the London Palladium saw Harry Kane achieve a milestone that no other footballer had managed in the award’s 70-year history: winning two awards at the same ceremony.
The England captain lifted the prestigious 2026Ballon d'Or, and, just minutes earlier, had claimed the Forward of the Season trophy, sealing a historic double never before seen.
It was his third honour in the history of our award, having taken to the stage in 2024 to collect his first Forward of the Season trophy, formerly known as the Gerd Müller Trophy.
Today, at the age of 33, the Bayern Munich striker won his first Ballon d'Or, doing so in one of the closest votes in recent memory.
With 1,055 points, Kane edged out Kylian Mbappé by just 28 points and relegated Lamine Yamal to third place on the global podium.

An unforgettable season: 73 goals and a domestic treble
The international jury’s endorsement was in response to a truly devastating attacking display.
During the 2025–26 season, Kane combined consistency, trophies and ruthless efficiency across all competitive fronts:
-
65 competitive matches
-
73 goals scored
-
8 assists
-
3 team titles (Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFB-Supercup)
In the domestic league, the Englishman led Bayern with 36 goals in 31 appearances (26 of them as a starter), averaging a goal every 66.1 minutes of play.
That tally secured him his third consecutive title as top scorer in German football and the second European Golden Boot of his career.
In the UEFA Champions League, he kept Bayern on course for the semi-finals with 14 goals in 13 matches, whilst in the DFB-Pokal he scored 10 goals in six matches, sealing the Munich side’s 21st cup with a hat-trick in the final against VfB Stuttgart.
The crowning glory of his season came on the international stage. At the 2026 World Cup, Kane led the English attack and scored six goals, a tally that saw him overtake Gary Lineker to become England’s all-time leading goalscorer at World Cups.
An all-round performance for both club and country that shattered records that had stood for decades. With the Ballon d'Or and the award for best striker under his belt, Harry Kane crowned the best season of his life in London.
