Lamine Yamal continues to make history at a rapid pace.
On this occasion, the FC Barcelona forward, nominated for the 2026 Ballon d'Or and the Young Talent of the Year award, equalled a goalscoring record previously held by Lionel Messi.
To be more precise, his most recent performance against Levante saw him reach six goals in the first five matchdays of Spain’s LaLiga.
Most strikingly, these goals came in three braces – against Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Levante themselves.
A feat not seen at the Catalan club since the 2012–13 season, when Messi led the attack for the team managed by Tito Vilanova.

In that season, Lionel Messi managed to score three braces in the first five matches of the Spanish league (against Real Sociedad, Osasuna and Getafe).
Until now, he was the only Barcelona player in the 21st century to have achieved that feat at the start of the domestic league campaign.

However, the young forward achieved an even more remarkable feat: he scored his three braces in consecutive matches (against Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Levante).
In the 2012–13 season, Messi started with two goals against Real Sociedad and Osasuna, but failed to score in the third matchday against Valencia.
The Argentine star did not score another brace until the fourth matchday, against Getafe.
That historic campaign ended with Barça winning the title on 100 points and the Argentine claiming the 'Pichichi' award after scoring 46 goals.
In fact, months after that goal-laden start to the LaLiga season, Messi won his fourth consecutive Ballon d'Or.
